Shaping Minds, Bridging Cultures: My Journey as CEO of KidooLand

Shaping Minds, Bridging Cultures: My Journey as CEO of KidooLand

As the CEO of KidooLand, my journey has been more than a professional endeavour; it's been a passionate commitment to shaping young minds and fostering cross-cultural understanding.

Since 2007, KidooLand has touched the lives of over 7,500 young learners and their families, providing a nurturing environment for bilingual education and cultural exchange.

As we end the year and start a new one,  I reflect on the impact of our work and my aspirations in the pursuit of developing Anglo-Franco relations and educational innovation.

The Vision Behind KidooLand:

From the outset, KidooLand was envisioned as a place where children could not only learn English but also develop a deep appreciation for linguistic diversity and cultural richness. In the heart of the South of France, we embarked on a mission to create a vibrant learning community, where the joy of discovery meets the excellence of bilingual education.

It was also a place my own children Louis and Daisy, could come to maintain their English once we had moved to France. I was able to bring my kids to work with me which has been an incredible gift over the years. I have been able to incorporate all my learnings from around the world into the KidooLand programmes to ensure my own children ( and yours!) were getting a well rounded, holistic education.

The KidooLand Difference:

Over the years, we've seen first hand the transformative power of bilingualism. Our learners have become confident communicators, critical thinkers, and empathetic individuals, equipped to navigate a globalized world. Our approach goes beyond traditional language teaching; it's about immersing children in a dynamic environment that stimulates their curiosity and encourages them to explore and connect.

Like so many of the KidooLand children, my own went on to International schools (CIV and Fenelon) . As our very first clients, Louis and Daisy were among the first to then leave school with their International Baccalaureates in hand and go to UK universities (Sussex and Bath) to study Business & Psychology /  Education & Psychology who knows perhaps be the future CEOs of KidooLand.

Impact and Outreach:

So the impact of KidooLand extends beyond the classroom. Not only are we giving your children the same opportunities that Louis and Daisy have had but we've built a supportive network of families, educators, and community members, all united in the belief that language learning is a gateway to broader horizons.

Indeed once Louis had graduated he then went traveling around Asia and Australia, working and sightseeing , confident in the knowledge that his bilingual education would open many doors.

Our alumni's stories are a testament to the lasting benefits of bilingualism, from academic achievements to personal growth and cross-cultural friendships.

I have also created and nurtured an online community of over 13,000 members typically International who are living or visiting the Cote d’Azur. This resource provides essential connections and support, bridging the gap between the Anglo and Franco worlds. (Facebook Cote d’Azur Living)

Pursuing Excellence and Recognition:

We are going through perhaps the biggest change in education in my lifetime. AI and all the benefits and challenges that brings is forcing educators globally to look at how they deliver course content. So too are we doing this at KidooLand

As we continue to grow and innovate, our commitment to excellence remains unwavering. English is still core in a child’s skill set , knowing how to interact on a global platform  interculturally remains fundamental but education needs to fundamentally change.

From my own investigation into Finland and the Finnish system, (PISA recognised world leader) , to my own observations of public and private education here in France, to my personal experiences in the British educational systems  … we are in a serios  period of  reflection where analysis is essential. We have collective achievements to celebrate and with thought and consideration we can restructure the way forward and bring positive change.

Looking back at our journey since 2007, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude. KidooLand has become more than just a language centre; it's a place where children learn to embrace the world with open minds and hearts.

It’s an accomplishment I am really proud of and could not have been possible the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in making KidooLand – what we hope is - a beacon of bilingual education.

As we look forward, our mission continues to be inspired by the potential of every learner and the transformative power of education. Here's to more years of learning, growing, and bridging cultures at KidooLand.
